Client Recipe Contest

We are thrilled to announce that because our clients sent in such great recipes for our client recipe contest, we have not one but three entree winners along with side dish and dessert winners.  Thank you very much to everyone who submitted a recipe!  Congratulations to these clients, whose recipes will now be featured throughout our menu cycle instead of on only one special day.

  • Entree winner: Pot Stickers, recipe inspired by Ms. Anderson
  • Entree winner: Porcupine Meatballs, recipe by Ms. Harris
  • Entree winner: Gourmet Chicken Salad, recipe inspired by Ms. Mashburn
  • Side dish winner: Buttermilk Salad, recipe by Ms. Harris
  • Side dish winner: Baked Cabbage, recipe by Ms. Harris
  • Dessert winner: Strawberry Trifle, recipe inspired by Ms. Jenkins

Some of these recipes have been modified for cost and/or nutrition guidelines.

This contest has ended, but we still love to get meal ideas from our clients.  If you have a treasured recipe that’s a hit every time, please send it to us.

Calling all chefs and foodies! Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County is having a recipe contest for our clients. We're looking for creative, tasty, nutritious, and cost-conscious recipes from our clients for entrees, vegetable side dishes, starch side dishes, and desserts. The winning recipes will star in our next menu cycle on a special Client Choice Day. If you have a tried and proven family favorite from your culinary days in the kitchen, send it in!

This contest is open to clients only. The recipe must be the original work of the client.

The deadline for submissions to be received is Monday, March 15, 2010.

Your recipe contest entry must be accompanied by the entry form. You may submit this form and your recipe together in one of three ways:

  • in your client contribution envelope
  • in your own mailing envelope sent to the address listed on the entry form
  • by e-mail to Angelique Young, R.D./L.D.
Entries by e-mail may include the recipe either as an attachment or in the body of the e-mail. The entry form must be attached to the e-mail.

Recipes will be judged on taste, appearance, nutritional content, and cost. Winners will be notified by phone Wednesday, March 31. If your recipe is selected as a winner, we will ask for your consent to incorporate it in our menu cycle. We reserve the right to slightly modify the winning recipes to meet our required nutritional guidelines.

We are pleased to make you and your recipes a part of our menu process. We know we have our very own Julia Child or Graham Kerr out there, so we can't wait to test and taste your delightful dishes!

If you have questions, please contact Nutrition Services Coordinator Angelique Young, R.D./L.D., by phone at 817-258-6408 or by e-mail.
